2015/07/20

MOSCOW, July 20. /TASS/. NATO’s and Ukraine’s joint military drills demonstrate the alliance’s provocative course of supporting Kiev and fuel revanchist sentiment of the Kiev ‘party of war,’ the Russian foreign ministry said on Monday.

"Another joint NATO-Ukraine military exercises that started under the United States command in Ukraine’s Lviv region on July 20 are another vivid example of the North Atlantic Alliance’s provocative course towards unconditional support to the policy of Kiev’s current authorities in the Ukrainian south-eastern regions, which continues to claim the lives of civilians in those regions," the ministry said.

"Despite loud statements by the bloc’s leaders on the necessity to observe the Minsk agreements and their officially declared support to Normandy Four format efforts at reaching ceasefire, NATO not only is not ready to admit that the organization of such drills is a mistake have possible explosive consequences but considerably increased their scale and the number of personnel involved as compared with the last year’s exercises," the ministry said.

"The alliance must be aware that such actions that fuel revanchist sentiment of the Kiev’s ‘party of war’ may pose a threat to any progress in peace settlement of the profound political crisis in Ukraine," the ministry stressed.
