MOSCOW, May 23. /TASS/. Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin may fight Deontay Wilder, the WBC heavyweight world champion, Andrei Ryabinsky, head of Mir Boksa (World of Boxing) said on Saturday.
On Friday, Povetkin knocked out Cuba’s Mike Perez in the first round. The fight lasted for only 91 seconds.
"Now, we consider fighting Wilder," Ryabinsky said. "We are getting ready for complicated negotiations. We are not at the level to fight abroad. It would be interesting to have a fight in the U.S."
Povetkin is now the WBC mandatory challenger to WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
