Russia-North Korea Business Council looking at building bridge between two countries

PYONGYANG, April 26. /TASS/. The Russian-North Korea Business Council is looking at building a boat bridge to link the two countries, Russian co-chairman of the Council Vitaly Survillo said on Sunday.

"The issue of building a bridge near the Russian railway station Khasan in the Far Eastern Primorsky Territory is being discussed within this organization that was set up this year," he said, adding that Russian businessmen were interested in promoting tourism in North Korea.

According to North Korea’s state tourism department, only 200 tourists from Russia visited North Korea in 2014. "I hope the figure will visibly grow in the foreseeable future. There is everything necessary for that," he told TASS.

The Russia-North Korea Business Council was set up to help Russian companies find business partners in North Korea, to elaborate concrete projects in the areas of trade and investment, and to organize exhibitions, business meetings and congresses.

The Council has delegated its representatives to the seventh meeting of the Russia-North Korea intergovernmental commission on trade-and-economic and science-and technology cooperation currently underway in the North Korean capital city. On Sunday, Russia’s and North Korea’s experts agreed a final protocol of the commission’s meeting that will be signed in Pyongyang on Monday.
