GENEVA, April 8. /TASS/. FIFA President Sepp Blatter said on Wednesday he approved the appointment of an anti-racism inspector of the Russian Football Union.
"Read that Torpedo Moscow has been served with another sanction for discriminatory behaviour of fans. Lot of work to be done," Blatter said in his Twitter following the Russian Football Union's decision to punish FC Torpedo Moscow, the Russian Premier League team, for a Nazi banner.
Torpedo Moscow will have to play two home games in an empty stadium and pay a 900,000 ruble ($16,000) fine after fans displayed a banner with a Nazi symbol during a Sunday game with FC Arsenal Tula.
The Russian Football Union (RFU) appointed its security department chief Alexey Tolkachev the RFU anti-racism inspector on March 30.
"Good to see the RFU has appointed an anti-racism inspector. Sanctions must be applied, but education is equally important," Blatter said.
