MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. An assembly point for Russian nationals has been opened at the Russian Cultural Centre in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal hit by a major quake.

"The quake has not stopped, jolts continue," said public relations officer at the Russian Embassy to Nepal, Azret Botashev.

Destruction is reported across the city, but no reports have come as of yet about Russian nationals killed in the quake measuring 7.9 magntude, he told TASS.

At least five people in India and nine in the capital of Nepal have been killed in a destructive quake.

Many houses are damaged or destroyed in the capital and the second-biggest city of Nepal, Pokhara, with dozens of people trapped under the debris.

Rescuers fear that more than 60 people may be trapped under the debris of Bhimsen Tower or Dharahara, which collapsed in the quake. The footing of the tower was not destroyed and there is hope to find survivors.

The 62-meter-high tower was built in 1832 and was a World Heritage Site.
