Lebanese Composer, Political Activist Rahbani to Work for RT TV Channel: Reports

2014/10/01

MOSCOW, October 1 (RIA Novosti) – Lebanese composer and political activist Ziad Rahbani voiced his intention to work for the RT TV channel in an interview with the Al Jadeed Lebanese TV channel Wednesday.

"I will be working with Rusiya Al-Yaum [the Arabic version of the RT news channel]; I have already gathered all the 2012 archives…and passed them on to RT," Rahbani said, speaking ahead of celebration events that are planned by the Russian Cultural Center in Lebanon for the composer's 59th birthday.

According to Rahbani, there is little future for people living in Lebanon.

"If we stay in this country, we will not be doing anything. We live [as if] in a desert , like prehistoric men, dressed in accordance with the latest fashion and with the latest model of iPhone, but not using even a quarter [of our potential]," Rahbani said.

"I will be working in the sphere of music, traveling back and forth [between Lebanon and Russia]," Rahbani noted.

The RT news channel is based in the Russian capital of Moscow. It is an international TV network, broadcasting in English, Spanish and Arabic in over 100 countries worldwide.

RT was the first news television channel to break the 1 billion views mark on YouTube and is the only Russian TV channel to become a three-time finalist in the run for the Emmy Awards in the news section.
