MOSCOW, August 1 (RIA Novosti) – Russian Envoy to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said on Friday that Moscow does not "export world revolutions" and does not act using the "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" mentality.
“I can tell you that we do not use methods such as the 'export of world revolutions' or separatist movements; that’s not Russia’s foreign policy. Our method, I believe, is more effective: this is the method of truth, sensible argumentation and conviction, and I can assure you that these work pretty well,” Chizhov said during a live internet conference between Moscow and Brussels.
"You know, acting according to the principle 'eye for eye, tooth for tooth,' is also unworthy, in my opinion, for such a great state as Russia ," Chizhov said about possible reciprocal sanctions against the European Union.
Amid escalating tensions in Ukraine, the West accused Russia of destabilizing the situation in the crisis-torn country.
The United States and European countries, citing undisclosed sources, insisted that Russia was supplying independence supporters in Ukraine’s east, involved in armed battles with government forces, with arms.
In a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov earlier this week, US Secretary of State John Kerry urged Russia to stop arms deliveries to Ukraine, but did not accept the denial of Russia supplying weapons to Ukraine’s eastern regions.
