BEIJING, June 6 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and China share the same view on all issues of the international agenda, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said Friday.
"For us, it is especially important that our countries' positions on all issues of the international agenda coincide or are as close as they can be," Patrushev said after a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Patrushev noted that his visit to China was held "on a high note" due to the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China in May.
"The Russian-Chinese summit elevated our bilateral cooperation to an unprecedented level," the secretary of the Security Council said.
Patrushev led the Russian delegation at the 10th round of Russian-Chinese consultations on strategic security issues and at the first meeting of the Russian-Chinese cooperation mechanism in the field of law enforcement.
Beijing was cementing its business ties with Moscow amid strained relations between Russia and the EU, rejecting to support the idea of unilateral economic sanctions against Russia following Crimea’s reunification and the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis.
China has been a traditional ally of Russia on the world stage in recent years. Moscow and Beijing presented a united front on war-torn Syria, joining forces last year to oppose a proposal for military intervention there made by the United States.
