2014/05/29

MOSCOW, May 29 (RIA Novosti) – The creation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAU) between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will determine the future development priorities of these countries, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday.

“A great event has taken place – the agreement has been signed on creating the Eurasian Economic Union that is set to define the vector of our development for years to come,” Medvedev told a government session.

The leaders of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan on Thursday signed the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty in Astana that will enter into force on January 1, 2015.

The treaty is bringing Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus to a higher level of integration, as the three commit to guarantee the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor as well as the implementation of coordinated policies in key sectors, including energy, industry, agriculture and transport.
