Being 540 m high it has been considered the highest free standing construction in Europe for 10 years. The Ostankino tower was built in the 1960s, its shape resembles a lily turned upside down.
It is located in Academician Korolev Street, 15.
The entry control is very strict.
One needs to have a document of identification to get inside.
It used to be called “The All-Union Radio and Television Directional Transmitter devoted to the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution”.
