ROSTOV-ON-DON, January 17 (RIA Novosti) – Two Russian men were jailed Friday after a court found them guilty of killing a Turkish citizen in 2012.
“Dmitry Kurgansky and Andrei Murka were found guilty of multiple offenses and sentenced to 19 and 11 years in a high-security penal colony,” the judge said while announcing the verdict in a court in Russia’s southern Rostov Region.
Prosecutors said the men were part of a group of youths with radical nationalist views who attacked and killed the 19-year-old Turkish man and wounded his friend before fleeing the scene.
Six of the gang were later arrested. The other four were found guilty of lesser charges including inciting ethnic hatred and received sentences of up to 19 months in prison.
State prosecutor Maxim Inglikov said his office was satisfied with the verdicts.
