BERLIN, January 18 (RIA Novosti) – Russia will triple the number of agriculture attaches in its embassies around the world because of new commitments in the World Trade Organization, the Russian agriculture minister said Saturday.
Russia already has agricultural attaches in 11 countries, but will boost this to about 30, Agricultural Minister Nikolai Fyodorov told reporters during an agriculture fair in Berlin, according to the Prime economic news agency.
The new diplomats will be needed to help develop agriculture exports from Russia and co-ordinate Russian participation in agriculture-linked exhibitions and events, said Fyodorov.
Russia joined the WTO in 2012 following almost two decades of accession negotiations.
