MOSCOW, December 15 (RIA Novosti) – A 35-year-old man from Russia’s Urals died after setting fire to a jar with gunpowder, a spokesman for the Russian Interior Ministry said on Sunday.
According to local police, the incident took place in the Urals city of Nyazepetrovsk on Saturday morning. A city resident was injured in an explosion near his house and was rushed to hospital with severe wounds to his hands and belly.
He died in hospital the following day.
An investigation revealed that the man had “set fire to a jar with gunpowder that he was holding, presumably in an attempt to commit suicide.”
Local police said the man “had no family, was unemployed and drank alcohol in excess.”
