MOSCOW, December 2 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin relieved Alexander Abramov of his duties as presidential adviser Monday, the Kremlin said.

No official reason was given for the dismissal of Abramov, who was in charge of overseeing sport.

Prior to being appointed adviser to Putin in May 2012, he was Russia’s deputy presidential chief of staff in 1999-2000, and State Council secretary in 2000-2004.

From 2004, Abramov worked as a presidential aide until he was appointed a presidential adviser.
