Central Russia Cyclone Leaves Thousands Without Electricity

MOSCOW, November 26 (RIA Novosti) – A powerful cyclone that swept through Central Russia this week left more than 80,000 people without electricity, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said Tuesday.


The power outages affected some 11,500 homes across four regions: Yaroslavl, Tver, Kostroma and Smolensk.


The ministry said in a statement that it expected all power lines to be fixed by 6 p.m. Moscow time (2 p.m. GMT) Tuesday.


More than 1,300 people and some 500 vehicles are involved in recovery efforts, it said.
