2013/10/18

MOSCOW, October 19 (RIA Novosti) – A court ruled to arrest two brothers suspected in the killing of a judge and a businessman from Chechnya in Russia’s southern republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, investigators said on Friday.

Adam Agakhadzhiyev, a judge from Chechnya, and Isa Atayev, a Chechen businessman, were found dead in a roadside ditch on October 9, a day after they had been reported missing. The two men had gunshot wounds to their torsos and heads. The Toyota Camry car they were travelling in was missing, as well as valuables that the victims had on themselves.

“Today [on Friday] a court ruled to arrest Isa and Khamzat Geroyev, suspected of committing this crime,” the Russian Investigative Committee said.

During investigative procedures, the suspects “confirmed their previous testimony of killing Agakhadzhiyev and Atayev.”

“They also recalled circumstances of these crimes and showed places where the stolen car was destroyed and where the presumed murder weapon was hidden,” the committee said in a statement.

The presumed murder weapon has been retrieved.
