Russian WWII Vet Killed for Gold Teeth

MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) – A man in Russia’s North Caucasus was sentenced Thursday to two decades in prison for killing an 89-year-old World War II veteran to steal his gold teeth and the equivalent of $450 in cash, prosecutors said.


Islam Dzugulov, wearing a ski mask, broke into the veteran’s home on an April night in the city of Nalchik and strangled the man to death, making off with his gold teeth and 15,000 rubles in cash, the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement.


An alleged accomplice, Ikhtiyer Chimpulatov, is still under investigation, the prosecutor’s office said, adding that the court also ordered Dzugulov to pay a fine of 200,000 rubles ($6,000).
