MOSCOW, September 8 (RIA Novosti) - Over 120,000 law enforcement officers will ensure security during Sunday’s elections in Russia, the Interior Ministry has reported.
About 7,000 elections of various types will be held in 80 Russian regions on Sunday. More than 40 million of Russians are entitled to vote.
Residents of 8 regions will choose their governors. Lawmakers of regional legislatures will be elected in 16 regions.
Members of 54 political parties, as well as independent candidates, will vie for various regional and municipal posts.
Some 35,600 police officers will ensure order in Moscow, where residents will elect their mayor.
