Small Plane Crash Kills One, Injures Three at Festival in Siberia

MOSCOW, August 18 (RIA Novosti) – A light plane has crashed in Russia's Siberian republic of Yakutia (Sakha) during a performance at a festival, killing one onboard and injuring two on the ground, local emergencies said on Sunday.


The Yak-52 plane crashed while performing a loop at the Bereg Radosti (Shore of Joy) festival some 10 kilometers from the town of Tommot. Two spectators who attended the event were injured. Another person onboard the plane was also hurt in the accident.


The light plane crashed into the Aldan River and plummeted into the river bank, where the festival was held, a spokesman for the Emergency Situations Ministry said. An investigation is ongoing.
