MOSCOW, August 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has wished former US President George W. Bush a speedy and complete recovery after his heart operation earlier this week, the Kremlin said Thursday.
Bush, 67, had a stent implanted in his heart Tuesday after artery blockage was discovered during a routine check-up Monday. Bush spokesman Freddy Ford said the former president is “in high spirits” and eager to resume his normal schedule.
Russian-US relations have soured recently following Russia’s decision to grant asylum to fugitive intelligence contractor Edward Snowden.
The White House said Wednesday US President Barack Obama has canceled a planned summit with President Putin next month.
