An-70 is a medium-range cargo (operational-tactical, military-transport) aircraft of the new generation developed by the Aviation Scientific-Technical Complex “Antonov”. It was intended to replace the out-of-date An-12.
An-70 preformed its first flight in December, 1994.

In 2010-2012 the aircraft underwent considerable modernization: the avionics was fully changed, engine control system, propfan construction (fo less noise) underwent changes too, the number of crew members was decreased to four (including a loadmaster).
Today only one prototype is flying (serial number 770102) which has a forced landing in Omsk in its work list already (ten years ago).
The main ideas of the concept of An-70 were subsequently embodied in the construction of A400M.
