IRKUTSK, May 13 (RIA Novosti) – A police officer in Siberia’s Irkutsk Region who shot dead a bear that had killed a man will be recognized for his act, either with an official citation or a bonus, an Interior Ministry representative said on Monday.

On Friday a brown bear attacked two men in a forest, killing one. The other was able to run away and raise the alarm.

Police officer Sergei Kazantsev, a forest ranger and a hunting watchdog inspector followed a trail of blood to the scene of the attack.
