This is one of the St. Petersburg churches – Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood. It was built in honor of Resurrection of Christ. Besides, it’s the very place where in March, 1st, 1881 emperor Alexander II was fatally injured (it was his blood “spilled” under the church). The cathedral was being built for money collected all over Russia.
Today we are going to climb the roof of the building to meet sunrise from there.

Makhailovsky castle can be see to the right – it’s one of the most unassailable churches.
A closer look at the cross.
It’s 3:45 a.m. but it’s already rather light and many people are outside.
Isn’t this sunrise wonderful?
