Marilyn Manson Cancels Russian Tour

2013/01/10

NOVOSIBIRSK, January 10 (RIA Novosti) – US shock rocker Marilyn Manson has cancelled his planned tour of Russian cities scheduled for this spring, Russian concert ticket seller Sibparter said on Thursday.

“Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, Marilyn Manson has canceled the entire tour of Russian cities," the statement said, adding that the company hoped the concerts would be held at a later date.

The musician had earlier announced concerts across Russia, in Kazan, Samara, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk and Nizhny Novgorod.

Manson canceled the tour after being dissatisfied with the organization of his mid-December concert in Yekaterinburg, the media reported, citing the organizers of Manson’s concert in Kazan.

The report said the organizers failed to comply with the singer’s stipulation that the temperature in the auditorium remain above 17 degrees Celsius (62.6 degrees Fahrenheit) throughout the performance.

Concert organizers in Yekaterinburg have dismissed the allegation, saying that the concert was held “at a very good, high-quality level.”

An organizer of Manson’s concert in Novosibirsk, Viktor Zakharchenko, said he received a letter from the singer’s managers saying that the tour could take place “at a later date.”

Manson, who first performed in Russia in 2001, gave concerts in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg in December as part of his Hey Cruel World tour to support the album Born Villain.
