2012/12/29

The cold territory of Russia called Yakutia is very rich in fish. It’s all because there are a lot of lakes here. Tehe population of Yakutia is one million people and for each person there are 3,5 lakes! Some areas are wild, of course, but there is much fish anyway.

The market is full of various whitefish.

People often hold fish festivals.

And they make such masterpieces from frozen fish.

This one is called “Rider”.

What is this, do you think?

It’s just a little mammoth!

Who will slice fish faster?

The tastiest are slices of frozen fish served cold. No culinary processes at all. Only salt and pepper. They slice it, dip in salt and pepper and put in mouths. The fish is oily so it does not feel you bite ice.

The fish is cleaned first, of course.

The slices are 5-10 mm thick.

The remains can be used for fish soup.

These are the perfect glasses for vodka.

Horsemeat is popular in Yakutia too.

The buyer can even have information where the horse comes from, how old it is etc.
