Are Russian breweries much different from what one can see in other countries where beer is a popular drink? We are going to visit one brewery in Moscow right now and check this out.

Hop is one of the most important ingredients for beer. This is a Cannabaceae plant, by the way.

The second important ingredient is malt. Nearly all beer in the world is made from hop, malt and water. But if technologies are so alike, why do we have so many sorts of beer? What does beer color depend on? It depends on malt. If it is fried, the resulting beer is dark.

This is a brewing room. There are five Ziemann reservoirs here. The final product of brewing is substance called cold hopped wort. Light beer is made from light wort. Special worts can give dark beer or beer of a caramel color.

Wort is added into beer to make it a bit bitter and give it special aroma. The brewing process is automated and controlled from the special room.

Water is also important for making tasty beer. It should be pure and soft. The Moscow Brewing company has its own wells.

Here the drink frets.

As specialists say “no yeast – no beer”.

The yeast can be seen through this little window.

These tanks are as large as five-storey buildings!

Each tank like this can hold content of fifteen wagons.

This is the cover of the tank.

Many sorts of beer are filtrated. Filtrated beer is considered to be a purer drink.

Here the cans are filled at high speed.

Cans have no covers yet.

Closed cans are washed.

They go to the warehouse.

These cans are empty.

Those bottles are not recycled because garbage is almost never sorted. And customers like beautiful bottles.

Here the fill the bottles with beer.

The most popular bottle size in Russia is 0,5 liters while in the West 0,33 liters is more typical.

The labels are ready.

Ready products go to the warehouse.

The plant works 24/7. Trucks from all over th country come here. The beer produced here is drunk in Ryazan and Kamchatka. The company has no branches – it’s their politicy, this way it’s easier to control the quality.

They clean the brewing line three or four times a day. While they clean, the equipment is checked.

The company is also a distributor of foreign brands of beer, such as Belgian beer Duvel.

Anyone can come here, get an excursion and taste the beer produced by the Moscow Brewing Company.
