The US tries to convince the world, that gold prices fall, as the metal started threatening the role of dollar as a global reserve currency, William Engdahl, geopolitical analyst, strategic risk consultant, professor at Princeton University wrote for New EasternOutlook.

Gold prices have dropped to 1,099 dollars a troy ounce since 2011 when gold futures cost 1,896 dollars at the New York COMEX exchange. COMEX, which is governed by the Western banks, does everything possible, including the sale of forged bullions, to crash the prices.

At the same time, Russia and China keep building up gold mining.

Aleksey Vyazovsky, Vice-president of the Golden Mint House commented o the issue to Pravda.Ru.

"I do not share this theory that gold may become an alternative to dollar, or any other currency. We have a number of areas, which are not in the dollar zone. One of the largest places where they trade gold now is the Shanghai Stock Exchange. There is not much gold in the world, to serve the global trade. The reserve currency is of necessity in any way, either it is a dollar, or something else," the analyst said.

The US muddles with gold reserves, not conducting a public audit. The gold prices decrease has happened given the expectations of interest rate increase. "The case is that monetary base is being reduced in the US, and the prices fall not only for gold, but everything. Oil and industrial metals have also lost in value. That is, dollar costs less, the supply is being reduced, and there are expected higher interest rates and capital value," Vyazovsky explained.

Given these expectations, we can evidence the drop of prices for everything traded at the stock exchange, the expert noted. "As soon as there occurs a serious increase of interest rates, gold prices will be back to 1,200-1,300 dollars an ounce," he added.

According to Vyazovsky, Russia builds up gold mining because it has a secure buyer of Central Bank, which purchases up to 60% of gold. "Central Bank tries to diversify its reserves in such a way. As sanctions are imposed on our country, we should enlarge our share of gold," the analyst said.

Russian scientists will study remnants of the fossil animals and their DNA. A special scientific laboratory has been opened for this purpose in Yakutsk.

Semen Grigoryev, Director of the mammoth museum in Yakutsk claimed that it's the only scientific centre in Russia, where there will be held systematic biotech researches of the paleontological samples.

According to him, the bodies are best preserved within the layer of clean ice.

Grigoryev made an example of a female mammoth, which had been found on the Maly Lyakhovsky Island. The tissues had been preserved to such extent, that they had been of red colour, and blood started bleeding, as the ice had been broken.

EU's security costs a lot, thus it is farmed out to US

Member of the Russian Parliament Igor Zotov offered to shift the UN headquarters from the US to Switzerland. He has already addressed the corresponding letter to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Zotov believes that the UN should strengthen its role as a supreme arbitrator on the international stage, and not become an instrument of influence in the hands of the US.

Gabor Stier, Hungarian foreign policy analyst and constant participant of the Valdai Club told Pravda.Ru whether this shift is possible.

According to him, NATO won't be the US' means. However, nobody does something or gives money, but the US. "That is why the situation can aggravate. Europeans do not want to waste money for security and army. The US thinks the other way, because he who has force in his hands, is more powerful," Stier noted in an interview with Pravda.Ru.

The Hungarian journalist also claimed that the main problem is the Europe's way of thinking - not to waste money for security, as it is expensive. "Thus, they farm it out to the US to secure the Europe's safety. It's a good idea, but not viable. It is also not viable, because the UN is an outdated organization, and something does not work there. We need something new, a new organization," Gabor Stier said.

Today, the UN can't influence the US, Stier believes, it can't influence the NATO's activity. There occur more countries, wishing to influence the world order. These are the BRICS countries, for example. And Europe should take part in this dispute as well.

The expert concluded that "we should act the other way. We should change the balance of power. If more countries have more power, then they will be able to pressurize the US, and it is not real to pressurize the UN," Gabor Stier added.

Aleksandr Salitsky, chief research scientist at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations told Pravda.Ru in an interview about the Chinese hegemony in Asia and the role of this country in the aggravation of relationship between two Koreas.

According to him, North Korea is a strategic buffer zone between the American ally of Japan and China. The Chinese also have quite good relations with South Korea. Given the public opinion in South Korea, it is evident that they understand the China's stance.

Salitsky noted that the tensions can be seen in the relations between China and Japan. "There are significant demonstrations of aggressive, hostile intentions between the two Koreas. A lot is staged."

Answering the question whether Washington will manage to suppress the China's hegemony in Asia, Salitsky noted, that "China does not aim at hegemony in Asia. It is sufficient for it to have independent neighbours. Chinese say openly that the Philippines are a puppet of Washington. But they do not say so about Vietnam."
