The Biggest Mosque of Central Asia

“Hazrat Sultan” is the mosque in Astana, Kazakhstan, the biggest mosque in Central Asia. One can enter the mosque barefoot and shoot interiors as much as he or she wants but with no flash.











The mosque is built in classic Islamic style with traditional Kazakh ornaments.



It can normally accomodate five thousands of prayers and up to ten thousands on holidays.



The mosque occupies the territory of more than eleven hectares, the total area of all structures is equal to 17 700 square meters.

The mosque has four monarets in its four corners, each 77 meters high.



“Hazrat Sultan” has the biggest dome in Kazakhstan – its height is 51 meters and width – 28 meters.

Prayers leave their shoes here. The mosque also has a washing room and a room for wedding rituals, halls for reading Koran and for educational classes,
