KUBINKA /Moscow Region/, June 17. /TASS/. The tests of an air-independent propulsion power system for Russian conventional submarines will begin in the Baltic Sea soon, the head of Rubin central design bureau, the system developer, said on Wednesday.
‘We’re now approaching the stage of maritime trials in the Baltic Sea. There are no doubts that we’ll pass them," Rubin CEO Igor Vilnit said at the Army 2015 arms show outside Moscow.
Rubin central design bureau is holding the system’s tests with the participation of Russian Navy specialists on a special stand representing several compartments of a submarine, Vilnit said.
"The system has passed all the tests on the coast and now only confirmation is needed," he added.
Rubin central design bureau announced in March about the upcoming tests of the new air-independent propulsion power system. The Rubin CEO said at the time the tests of the bureau's new development would begin "quickly enough."
Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Viktor Chirkov later said the work on creating the new anaerobic system was expected to be over in 2016-2017.
