SINGAPORE, June 1. /TASS/. Russia plans to intensify naval ships’ calls at Singapore port in long-distance passages, Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said on Monday.

‘Singapore has an advantageous geographic position and developed port infrastructure, which helps provide all the necessary supplies for Russian Navy ships and vessels," Antonov said at a forum on security in the Asia-Pacific region.

"There are plans to increase the intensity of Russian vessels’ calls at Singapore when they are on long-distance missions in the area of the Indian and Pacific Oceans," the deputy defense minister said.

This year, Russian naval ships are scheduled to "make calls in Vietnam, Singapore, India and Thailand," Antonov said.

"We’re grateful to our colleagues who traditionally receive warmly Russian sailors," the deputy defense minister said.
