EU Council agreed to extend sanctions against Russia at permanent representative level

BRUSSELS, June 17. /TASS/. European Union Council agreed to extend economic sanctions against Russia for another six months at the level of permanent representatives. The issue of toughening the sanctions was not discussed, a European source in Brussels told TASS Wednesday.

"The decision to extend the sanctions until the end of January, 2016 was approved on the level of COREPER (the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union)," the source said.

"European Union Council does not currently discuss toughening the sanctions regime [against Russia - TASS]," the source said.
