YEKATERINBURG, May 13. /TASS/. The 500th McDonald's restaurant in Russia opened on Wednesday in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg.
The ceremony was attended by the city's mayor, Yevgeny Roizman, and McDoonald's Russia managing director Alexey Semenov.
"The opening of McDonald's [restaurants] marked the start of the Soviet Union's international integration," Roizman told TASS.
He said that Yekaterinburg, Russia's fourth-largest city, had 12 McDonald's restaurants which serve some 12,000 people daily.
The world’s largest fast food chain McDonald's opened its first restaurant in Moscow in 1990. The company plans to open 50 new restaurants in Russia in 2015.
