MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. Ukraine’s forces have shelled the settlements of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic 26 times over the past 24 hours, a local defense ministry official said on Friday.
"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 26 incidents of ceasefire regime violations have been registered, including ones with the use of artillery," the Donetsk news agency quoted the ministry official as saying.
Four shellings were registered with the use of artillery pieces, one from tank guns and one from armored fighting vehicles, according to the ministry. Kiev forces opened fire nine times from mortars, ten times from grenade launchers and small arms and once from antitank guided missiles.
The shellings targeted Donetsk, including the embattled airport territory, Gorlovka and Yasinovataya. The settlements of Spartak, Zhabichevo, Lozovoye and Shirokino also came under fire.
Information on casualties among the civilians or militias is being verified.
In its turn, the command of Kiev military operation in Donbas has confirmed the clashes to the north of Donetsk, accusing militias of using artillery and mortars.
