TOKYO, April 22. /TASS/. South Korea and US have reached an agreement on bilateral cooperation in the sphere of peaceful atomic energy, South Korea’s Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

The document will be signed later on Wednesday. The details of the deal are not disclosed. Yonhap news agency said that the new agreement will allow Seoul to expand its capabilities in the sphere of peaceful use of atomic energy.

The sides agreed to hold a final round of talks on reviewing bilateral cooperation in nuclear energy at the Munich Security Conference in February.

US and South Korea signed an agreement on nuclear cooperation in 1974 for 40 years. The deal imposed certain restrictions on Seoul in enriching uranium and reprocessing spent nuclear fuel.
