BEIJING, April 23. /TASS/. Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday Beijing considers the recent agreements reached between Tehran and world powers (the US, UK, France, China and Russia plus Germany) as a "positive step."
"The recently reached consensus between Iran and the P5+1 countries on the nuclear program is a positive step towards reaching comprehensive agreements," the Chinese leader said at the meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the Asia Africa Conference in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Chinese president was quoted by the Sina news portal as saying that "China plans to continue maintaining contacts with all the interested sides and pushing for reaching a fair, balanced and mutually beneficial agreement."
At the round of negotiations in Switzerland’s Lausanne on April 2, Iran and six world powers agreed on the key parameters of the joint comprehensive action plan on the Iranian nuclear program which is set to be adopted by June 30. After the document is implemented, all the political and economic sanctions against Iran will be lifted.
