MOSCOW, April 17. /TASS/. Chinese AliExpress stated its intention to open a representative office in Russia, Russia's consumer watchdog said on Friday after the meeting of Roskomnadzor’s Deputy Head Antonina Priezjeva with the company management.
The meeting was dedicated to the law on keeping Russian’s personal data on local servers in Russia. Representatives of AliExpress expressed the desire to follow requirements of Russian laws, the Russian supervising agency said.
"Further to discussion of legislative requirements, the company stated the intention to establish a full-fledged representation office of AliExpress in the Russian Federation," Roskomnadzor said.
AliExpress is affiliated with Chinese private e-commerce Alibaba Group. The group has its corporate e-payment system Alipay and manages Taobao.com and AliExpress e-stores. The audience of AliExpress’ active users in Russia was over 4 mln by mid-2014.
