2014/11/04

SIMFEROPOL, November 4 (RIA Novosti) - It is vital to integrate Crimea into the Russian legal system, but the integration period should be extended, the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov told RIA Novosti Tuesday.

"Extending the transition period is necessary. Just in some sectors this is not required, in others it is vital," Konstantinov said.

According to him, the Crimean authorities are ready to discuss the laws that should be passed at the state level to extend the transitional period.

Following the February coup in Ukraine, residents of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol refused to recognize the legitimacy of the new government and held a referendum in March which resulted in Crimea's reunification with Russia. Almost 97 percent of the population voted to break away from Ukraine and rejoin Russia.
