Old Watch Towers of Ingushetia

2014/04/19

Yesterday, there was a post about copies of Towers of Ingushetia made by an enthusiast, and today here come the real world towers of Ingush warriors. You can click on the photos for the full size photos. As being said those are the towers of one local tribe Ozdoi out of late middle ages. Were used as watch and defense towers. There is an interesting story about the construction process – each tower had to be finished in the span of one year. If the builders couldn’t complete it in 365 days the unfinished tower was demolished or left abandoned as a sign of the weakness of the tribe.
