Moscow Metro Trades Tickets for Squats

2013/11/09

MOSCOW, November 9 (RIA Novosti) – An unorthodox ticket machine that dispenses passes for workouts went into operation in the Moscow metro this week.

The going rate is one squat per ruble, with 30 squats in two minutes getting a passenger a one-time ticket worth 30 rubles ($0.90).

The machine, presented Friday by several Olympic champions, is installed at the Vystavochnaya station in the city’s business district. The remaining 189 stations can still only be entered for money.

The project is to promote the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi.
