MOSCOW, July 1 (RIA Novosti) – Russia’s Federal Migration Service on Monday denied US media reports that fugitive American intelligence contractor Edward Snowden had requested political asylum in Russia.
“The reports about Snowden requesting political asylum in Russia are untrue,” a migration service spokesperson told RIA Novosti.
The New York Times, citing an anonymous Russian immigration official, said earlier in the day that WikiLeaks activist Sarah Harrison, who is reportedly traveling with Snowden, delivered his application for political asylum to a Russian consulate in Terminal F of Moscow’s Sheremyetevo Airport.
