Russian Health Minister Gives First Aid at Putin Meeting

NOVO-OGARYOVO, July 30 (RIA Novosti) – Lawmakers often get criticized for being all talk and no action, but Russia’s health minister proved she can take a hands on approach when a colleague needed first aid at a government meeting Tuesday, Russian media reported.


A Kremlin official took ill during a government meeting chaired by President Vladimir Putin at his residence outside Moscow, and Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova stepped into the breach – giving the man first aid until an ambulance arrived.


The official, who has not been named, was reportedly hospitalized with a suspected stroke.


Speaking to reporters after the incident, Skvortsova explained that she had medical training, and had stepped in because of her experience in this field.


The meeting focused on the quality and accessibility of healthcare in Russian regions, including the allocation of additional funds.
