Suspected Moscow ‘Wedding Shooters’ Released - Police

2013/04/28

MOSCOW, April 28 (RIA Novosti) – Police have released almost all the persons who were detained earlier on Sunday for allegedly firing celebratory shots in southern Moscow, a police spokesman has said.

“All members of the wedding cortege, except one, have been released by police,” a spokesman said. He said a driver remains in custody as tests are underway to identify a “vegetable matter” that police found during the searches.

Initial reports of a shooting have not been confirmed, the spokesman said.

The reports said a wedding cortege of Azerbaijan’s nationals was detained at the entrance to the Tsaritsyno park and at least nine suspects had been taken to a police department to “give explanations over the shooting.” Police later said the suspects hail from Afghanistan.
