2013/04/14

MOSCOW, April 15 (RIA Novosti) - Two aircraft sent by the Russian Emergencies Ministry to Belgium following a tourist bus crash in the West European country have landed in Brussels Airport, the ministry said Monday.

The ministry’s Yakovlev Yak-42 (Clobber) has already taken off back to Russia. It will take home those Russians who were slightly injured or those unhurt at all in the traffic accident.

An Ilyushin Il-76 (Candid), equipped with medical modules and with doctors and psychologists aboard, will provide assistance to those injured.

Five people - three Russians and two Polish nationals - were killed and 19 injured Sunday as a Polish transport company's bus carrying tourists from the southern Russian Volgograd Region - teenagers and adults accompanying them, in all about 40 people - crashed near Antwerp in northern Belgium.

Six people remain in Belgian hospitals.

Belgian media said the accident could have occurred due to the bus driver falling asleep or having a heart attack.
