3 White Tigers Born at Russian Circus

MOSCOW, July 12 (RIA Novosti) – Three white tigers were recently born at a Russian circus while it was on tour in the West Siberian city of Novosibirsk, the head animal trainer said Friday.

“The birth of tigers in captivity is rare, especially white tigers,” trainer Mstislav Zapashny told RIA Novosti, adding that the cubs were born last month but the announcement didn’t come earlier so as “not to jinx it.”

The cubs – two males and a female – will begin performing at the circus when they are 3 years old, said Zapashny, a representative of one of Russia’s most famous circus dynasties. His troupe is currently performing in the East Siberian region of Irkutsk.

The cubs were the mother’s second litter, the trainer said, adding that his circus now had seven white tigers – five cubs and two adults, including the mother, Alma.
